Phoenix Rising by Stuffins Phoenix Rising by Stuffins
Its almost fitting that I chose this piece for my first signed as George Bronx. The Phoenix is a mythical creature that is reborn from its own ashes after annihilating itself. I studied Freehand extencively while at school and, to much regret, have forgotten most of what I had learned. I am very pleased with the final outcome of this image. I feel that I am quickly relearning much of what I once knew.

Freehand 8
15 hours over 3 weeks

Great picture! once again the simplicity of the colors is really great but you still manage to convery the smoth form with them.

Many thanks. The flames were dificult to make. In the original pic, they are much brighter...I can't figure it out.

oh goodness gracious..three weeks?..even though you may say that you were lazy..being a procrastinator..i must say that you have great patience..since i would have probably given up after the first hour..haha..but i'm not saying that you would consider yourself lazy..okok..i'll just stop right there..so getting to the piece itself..i think that the title fits the piece perfectly..and the nude aspect of the piece is done tastefully..great work on her form..and also on the flames and smoke..i also like how you centered her..and kept negative space to her left and right..since it looks like she's walking in a dark cave of some sort..

:boogie: It took three weeks because of my procrastination... and I did give up after an hour or two each day.

Thanks, glad you like =D

Oooh, firetwirlers. I do that as a hobby - although I don't look anywhere near as pretty doing it. Where'd you get the original from?

I like the detail you've done on this one, the shading is excellent :)

Glad you like. Firedance has been a curiosity of mine for quite some time. I dont know....ive never seen a picture of fire people that i didnt like...so me thinks you are too modest ;)

I "borrowed" the pic from Kyer Photography
under the performance art heading -> Fire -> Page 3 (They use frames so it would look weird if I linked directly) Its professional photos of a group actually called Phoenix Rising (so I wasnt creative enough to come up with the name all by myself :shh: )
supose I should tell them I used it ....eh?

The people of Phoenix Rising are originally from Santa Cruz in California, but I guess they travel the world doing their thing.

Hee...well, it's only a hobby for me, and I'm not that good at it. I use fire poi, rather than staffs, although I'm fiddling around with gloves, like the woman in your picture. I spit fire too. Don't think I have any pictures of it, otherwise I'd share.

Also, I don't do it half-naked ;)

"Why should we hire you, what qualities do you have that could help this company?"

I can spit fire at all the stupid customers....

"You're hired."

I was just thinking....any relation between the fire and orange hair?

Well, the orange hair was supposed to be fire-hair, yes - when it wasn't all tied up (like in my DevID picture) it went from white-blonde at the roots, through yellow/orange/red to black. I dyed it all brown not long ago, though - got fed up of the orange.

back to the most unique and incredibly boring brown ever?

Hell yes. Although it looks a pretty claret colour in the light, because of all the red underneath it. Still rather boring, mind you.

ok, not just because of all the recent boobage talk/thoughts, but I think this is quite a lovely piece regardless. I love the symbolic Phoenix concept, to begin with, and it really adds a different dimension to see it in this type of digital form ( freehand program? wow - how come my stuff doesn't come out like this lol ).

Awesome job and keep on creatin' - looks like you are definitely improving from your previous stuff I saw.
